wiki.cards
A collectible pack-opening game built from real wiki articles.
Overview
What it is
wiki.cards is a browser-based collecting game that treats wiki articles like trading cards. A pack contains five real article cards, each presented with a title, image when available, short extract, rarity, and a link back to the source page.
Why we built it
Large wikis are full of interesting pages, but discovery usually happens through search, links, or passive browsing. wiki.cards exists to turn that discovery into an active collection loop: open a pack, reveal unexpected subjects, and keep the cards worth revisiting.
How it works
Visitors can open packs immediately without onboarding. Signed-in collectors keep their pulls in a permanent collection, mark favorites, track duplicates, browse by rarity, and follow completion progress across the Wikipedia and Old School RuneScape expansions.
Product intent
wiki.cards gives random discovery a game-like loop: open a pack, reveal five subjects, notice the rare pull, save the cards worth revisiting, then come back for another pack.
Capabilities
- 01Five-card packs reveal real article cards with titles, images, extracts, rarity, and source links
- 02Signed-out visitors can open packs immediately, with temporary pulls claimable from the same browser
- 03Signed-in collectors can save pulls, browse a permanent collection, favorite cards, and track duplicates
- 04The collection includes rarity filters, sort modes, completion stats, and expansion-specific views
- 05Rewards add tokens, daily streaks, challenges, public profiles, and leaderboards for active collectors
- 06Wikipedia and Old School RuneScape expansions share the same core pack-opening and collection system
